BELAMA POLICE SUB-STATION

Over the last eight to ten weeks the Belama Police Sub-Station has been closed.

To date, no adequate explanation has been offered to the residents of that community or to me as their area representative regarding the purpose or length of this closure.

The permanent police presence at the Belama Sub-Station along with their regular patrols of the area has served that community well over the past few years.

Their absence over the past few weeks has been marked by a visible spike in criminal activity in the area.

It is my considered opinion that the sub-station in the Caribbean Shores Area cannot effectively service the Belama Area and it is therefore critical that the Belama Police Sub-Station be re-opened at the earliest possible time.

On behalf of Area Residents, I have written to the Hon. Minister of Police and Public Safety to request his urgent intervention on this most important issue to our Freetown Community.

Our Freetown community is fully committed to supporting the efforts of the Belize Police Department and we look forward to a fully re-activated Belama Police Sub-Station within the next few days.
